Australian National Drag Boat Championships

April 1st is normally a day set aside for some fun and games trying to catch your kids out as an ‘April Fool’.  No time for that this year, as the Victorian Drag Boat Club race schedule read the ‘Signature Spas Australian National Drag Boats Championships' at the National Water Sports Centre in Melbourne and nobody was caught out as an April Fool! 2006 Nitro Thunder on the River
It was promoted as the ‘Nitro Thunder on the River’ drag boat race and it turned out to be just that! After waiting nearly 18 months to see a TFH back on the water at Melbourne’s National Water Sports Centre, the Victorian Drag Boat Club went all out on this one, with another Friday night launch which saw the new Bullet hull, the twin screw Top Fuel Hydro, presented to the capacity crowd that squeezed into the marquee at the track.  So, under bright lights...

Welcome to the 2006-7 Race SeasonWith the past racing season now behind us, we look forward to the 2006-2007 Signature Spas High Point Championship Series which kicks off in October. With a brand new Top Fuel Hydro already here in Australia, we will see some of the fastest ever quarter mile passes in the history of the sport. Craig Cook, Paul Madill and the team have been very busy building the new boat, which we will hopefully be seen doing shakedown runs at the National Water Sport Centre in November 2006!... more >>

Season Wrap Up

The drag boat race season for 2005-2006 finished off in fine style in the Cabaret Room, at the Village Green Hotel in Melbourne on Saturday 28th July. In what was a fitting end to the race season, saw the girls in their finest and the boys, well, just having fun. Hosted on the night by Victorian Drag Boat Club President, Alan Joy, who did a fine job on the microphone, talking about the season gone, the people and sponsors who assisted the club and even cracking the odd joke which was appreciated by all... more >>

HOT Gossip
HOT GossipSeems all is well up in NSW, with the Cook / Madill partnership, taking possession of their new Top Fuel Hydro in May this year. We can let you all in on a little secret that the hull is a Jim Dunn designed ‘outrigger’, design and it recently came out of the paint shop and is nearing completion. Adrian has worked his magic on the paint and sign job, so it’s sure to be something out of this world! The new ‘NITRO THUNDER’ will hopefully debut in November this year, and the boat will be pampered inside the new look transporter, also recently undergone a makeover with a brand new jet black paint job, to match the new prime mover... more >>

2005-6 Season Wrap UpThe new ‘DISTANT THUNDER’ BAH of Gary & Kathy James was also spotted on a new road trailer near where Gary & Kathy live! The trailer looked real familiar, bright red guards, galvanised finish, some new wheels. Our spies tell us that the trailer was once under ‘ANNIHILATION’ and now, at least the ‘DISTANT THUNDER’ team can get the boat around, rather than on the smaller dolly trailer it was on... more >>
