Possible New Race Venue for Australian Drag Boat Racers

Sometimes when club members are out and about on business or socially, they venture to places they haven’t been before just to take a look at the scenery. Imagine one members surprise when he found a possible site near Warrnambool, about 8 km’s from the town centre. Having driven past the turnoff a dozen times our member decided to take a look and this is what he found!

This is the Hopkins River, Jubilee Park, about 2 km’s from the Premier Speedway, off the main highway. There is a huge caravan park with plenty of onsite cabins, a double boat ramp, and grass area for the pro boat pits, sandy bank for the bracket boats, plenty of car parking at the site on private land (which would have to be arranged) and an awesome stretch of river to race on!

Obviously there is a lot to arrange; meetings with the right people, council, bi-laws, Parks Victoria, the Tourism minister of the area etc, etc. If you want to get involved, please put your hand up as there is much to do to make this happen. Call any committee member to help out please.

Stay tuned as we look into this awesome venue and we will update you all as we go and attempt to make this a regular race site and check out the photos below!
