VDBC Club Announcements

November 2007

Next General Meeting

Next General Meeting will be held on Tuesday Night November 13th, starting at 8.00pm at the NWSC rooms and all members and friends are welcome. We would like to see more participation at General Meetings from members so remember, it’s your club, put some input into it, and watch the success follow.

2007-8 Race Programme Advertising

We announced this last month, but this time of the year is difficult for the club in a financial sense, so it’s time to start searching for advertisers for our 2007-2008 VDBC programmes. It is cheap advertising, and a great way to get their message across to everyone about their business, in a fantastic programme that the public keep for a long time. Tax receipts are given to the companies that support us so they can claim a tax deduction for advertising. Please do all you can to sign up advertisers as the club needs the funds to help offset costs we will incur during the racing season. For further information on how you can help or advertise, please Wendy Howie on 0438 758 187.

Compulsory Rope Deflectors

Don’t forget holding rope deflectors are now mandatory on ALL competing boats. This includes all inboards, outboards, blown hydros and boats with wings. There must be a device fitted that allows the rope clear passage over any protruding parts. This is a safety device, aimed at protecting you, the other boat drivers on the holding rope and also the starter. If a boat engine or other part of the boat gets caught up or tangled up on the rope it can cause serious injury to all concerned, including you, so make sure yours is secure and safe for other competitors.

VDBC Display at the Baywater Primary School Annual Fete

The Bayswater Primary School Annual School Fete on Saturday 13th saw some of the VDBC finest boats on display. ‘OUTKAST’, ‘TRIPPA’, FLAMED & FLAT’, ‘ENERGY’, ‘ALTERED IMAGE’ & ‘THE PIECE’ all made the trek to show the public some awesome drag boats! Club members were busy handing out race dates and were kept busy talking to interested folks about the boats and what we do. Interesting still is that the majority of people that we spoke to had never heard of drag boat racing and its existence! This is why the club must continue to promote itself at displays like this. If you know of local community activity that we can be a part of, let us know and the club will contact the organisers. Some photos were taken on the day which you can see in our Photo Galleries.
